The club dates back to 1873, beginning life at nearby Meal Hill where Mona Street now stands. Today, our teams play above the village of Slaithwaite on Racton Street, this has been our home for over 130 years.
Our first and second XI’s currently play in the Drakes Huddersfield League, the first XI in the Championship and the Second XI in Premiership 2. We also field a team in the Huddersfield Evening League.
On the junior level we field teams in the Huddersfield Junior Cricket League at every age group from U9 through to U17.
Aside from cricket and bowling, the club opens its doors year round to snooker, quiz and dominoes teams alongside Slaithwaite FC and Slaithwaite Saracens RL teams who are tenants using the club lounges and changing facilities.
Our application to join the Halifax Sunday League is threefold. We have a number of players who struggle to play on a Saturday due to work commitments and other players who are now getting a bit older and are keen to play a few less overs!
The main reason however, is we think this will be the ideal league to give some of our better juniors, that step up they need to play adult cricket. We have more than half a dozen very good juniors who already play representative cricket and a few more decent juniors who will benefit from playing with adults.
Thirdly, this will bring additional revenue to the club. As most clubs will agree, it’s not cheap keeping a cricket club going. Slaithwaite are well supported; when we have decent weather, there is always a good turnout of spectators.
We have excellent facilities:-
Modern tea room with full catering facilities
The current changing rooms are only a few years old and have their own toilets and showers. There is a separate umpires room.
Large club house with 2 large lounges, snooker room and Sky Sports. Fully stocked bar with real ale. Large patio area outside to watch the cricket
Large Car Park
