The Halifax Junior Cricket League in partnership with the Cricket Asylum and Cricket Asylum Foundation have been running a 10 week women and girls only coaching course at the home of the Asylum, in Sowerby Bridge. Sourcing some funding from the West Yorkshire Leagues Council and the Calderdale Cricket Development Group the course has had access to the whole 4 lane facility and a qualified female coach. The course has been well attended with 16 girls signing up. As an added bonus Chris Berry, owner of the Cricket Asylum, invited England and Lancashire Thunder all-rounder Emma Lamb, to conduct training with the ladies followed by an informal Q & A. The session was a huge success.
If you are female, or you have females at your club, currently playing cricket, coming back to the sport or have never ever played but would welcome the chance to try it out we would love you to join us. The scheme is aimed to promote the sport for girls at any level and the use of the whole facility allows us to tailor the sessions to account for every standard. If you are interested in taking part or would like some further information you can e-mail the Halifax Junior Cricket League – firstname.lastname@example.org or The Cricket Asylum – Chris@TheCricketAsylum.co.uk
The sessions are tailored to all ages, abilities and experience for a ten week period. We have access to the whole area with coach Kirstin Smith and another coach from The Cricket Asylum delivering fun and skill bases sessions, including hard and soft ball nets. The cost of the course will once again remain at £50 for ten weeks, however the day and time has changed from the pre Christmas sessions. We will now be running the course on a Sunday Morning 9:30 - 10:30, starting on Sunday 21st January. To book onto the course, either drop Kirstin an email with your name or alternatively call The Cricket Asylum (01422 836554) to speak to one of the coaches direct. Alternatively, there is a ‘pay as you go’ option, paying £5 per week if you are unable to attend all sessions. We tried to remain on Monday Evenings, however due to this being prime netting time, this has been booked up well in advance for club nets. If anyone has any questions, please do not hesitate to contact either Kirstin or any of the coaches down at The Cricket Asylum. Kind Regards Kirstin Smith Level 2 Coach - The Cricket Asylum 01422 836554
