The first knockout final of the season takes place next Sunday 1 July at Old Town CC when Division 1 team, Almondbury Wesleyan, takes on Sowerby Bridge from Division 2 in the Sunday League’s Rod Warhurst Cup Final, sponsored by Copymark. It promises to be a Final of contrasts in so much that both teams will include on the one hand several veteran players in the twilight of their careers, to a plethora of youngsters at the start of their open-age cricketing life. In fact it will be a case of trying to spot the odd player between 20 and 35 years of age! Whatever the outcome there will be a new team name on the trophy as neither have won the Cup in its previous sixteen years existence, Sowerby Bridge having to go back to 1995 to win the Sunday competition in its previous incarnation as the Courier Cup. For some excellent entertainment head to Hebden Bridge next Sunday and Old Town CC at Boston Hill, Old Town Mill Road HX7 8ST
