The Spenser Wilson Halifax Cricket League and Bramley’s Halifax Junior Cricket League and Calderdale Cricket Development Group are totally committed to offering a safe environment for everyone to play the game of cricket in, and we take our safeguarding responsibilities very seriously. No one can be complacent and we are always seeking to improve and to learn from best practice, both from within the game and from elsewhere. We must strive to be compliant at all times and be vigilant for complicity. We always welcome the reporting of any concerns that anyone may have, to either the County Welfare Officer, Ray Knowles, who can be contacted at or call 07917 205860 or alternatively our Halifax League Welfare Officer, Neil Myers who can be contacted at or call 01274 882971. Ray Knowles would be the expected conduit for any serious safeguarding concerns raised locally. Furthermore we have an up to date link on our homepage to YCB where Safeguarding responsibilities are documented.

At a time when there is an understandable spotlight on this important issue, we are again looking at our processes and practices. We are currently preparing a full list of all our qualified coaches and their coaching qualifications. In this, we would like your continued support to ensure that the game is fully equipped to safeguard young people and to deal with any concerns. You will also be aware that Safe Hands - cricket’s policy for safeguarding children - applies at all levels of the game, from grassroots through to the elite levels. Every County carries responsibilities in this area and we want to assure you that we are supporting the Yorkshire Cricket Board with the initiatives they are undertaking.

Yours in Cricket
